Iron Kin is out today! Go forth and buy : ) I hope you enjoy Fen and Saskia. They were intriguing to write about. Can’t believe I have three books out but the Half-Light fun is not done yet. I’m almost finished the first draft of Fire Kin which will be out next year.

ARCs and more

It’s March. Which means it’s autumn. Unfortunately, Melbourne is denying this fact and having a heatwave. Which isn’t conducive to much of anything except staying indoors with the aircon on and wilting. Still, I have girded my loins and am plugging away on Fire Kin while the days until Iron Kin is out fly by. You can read Chapter One here. Chapter Two will be up in a week or so. If you can’t wait until April 2, I’m giving away two ARCs on my blog right now. Last weekend I was up in Brisbane for the Australian Romance Readers Convention where Blood Kin came runner up in the Best Cover category of the award, so thank you to everyone who voted on behalf of the brilliant Roc art department. Brisbane wasn’t quite as hot but it was wet and ridiculously humid just to join in the fun. Australian weather. Not for the faint hearted. We’ve even started having tornadoes (do not want). Brisbane was the last bit of gallivanting for a few months. Many books to write and all that. So I am being a good writer and making like a hermit apart from the inevitable socialising on the internet.

And the year is off and running

Happy February. January whizzed by which means only two months until Iron Kin is out! Yay! To celebrate, I’ve posted the first part of chapter one. More to follow over the next two months. Also, I have ARCs, so keep your eye on the blog from giveaway. Otherwise it’s heads down and into writing Fire Kin and looking forward to going to the Australian Romance Readers Convention at the end of this month. (Don’t forget, ARRA members can vote for Blood Kin in the Favourite Sci-Fi, Fantasy or Futuristic Romance and Best Cover in the Australian Romance Readers Association Awards for 2012. Also, if you haven’t yet tried the Half-Light City, now’s a good time to catch up as you won’t have long to wait for the next book (sneaky)!

2013 so far

Has involved the not so fun removal of a wisdom tooth (though to be honest it’s been far less painful than I thought it would be thanks to the combination of a good surgeon and plenty of codeine and sleeping) and the much more fun news that Blood Kin has been nominated for Favourite Sci-Fi, Fantasy or Futuristic Romance in the Australian Romance Readers Association Awards for 2012. And for Best Cover (which is a lovely compliment to the awesome Ace/Roc art department). So thank you to all who nominated me. And with Iron Kin less than three months away, if you haven’t checked out Blood Kin yet, it’s a good reason too ; ) (she says in a completely unbiased manner).

As the year starts to draw to a close, I’m writing a book with one name and editing one under another. Didn’t see that coming at the start of the year but it’s kind of fun! Hope you all had a lovely holiday season and are finding something fun to do on New Year’s Eve.

Well, along with my gorgeous Iron Kin cover, November has brought some other exciting news! Let’s hope the month continues like this! I’ve almost finished the Iron Kin revisions, so there’ll be a book to go with that very pretty cover very soon….truly, it will be April next year before we know it!

How did that happen? The good part about it being August is that next week I get to head off to the Gold Coast for the fabulous Romance Writers of Australia conference. For readers, there’s a booksigning at this event on Friday August 17 (4.30 to 6.00pm). I’m also going to be taking part in Romance by the Sea on September 8.
